The 2005 Dead Of Winter Free Film Festival
Each day spotlighted a different filmmaker: The festival kicked off on Saturday the 22nd with the films of Bruce G. Hallenbeck. Sunday, January 23rd featured the films of Joe Bagnardi. My day of films was on Saturday, January 29th; and on Sunday, January 30th the films of Albany's own Brandon Bethmann and
Eric Szmyr were shown. Festival highlights included the world premiere of Bruce G. Hallenbeck's
long-in-the-works feature "London After Midnight" on Day 1, and a panel discussion with all the
filmmakers which wrapped up the festivities on Day 4. Additionally, the festival generated extensive
local media coverage with articles in eight newspapers including The Albany Times Union, The Record, Metroland, The Saratogian and The Schenectady Gazette, among others. Dead Of Winter was also mentioned on several area television and radio stations, as well as on many movie websites.

I'd like to thank everybody who attended The 2005 Dead Of Winter Free Film Festival. Your support of independent filmmaking in Upstate New York's Capital Region is greatly appreciated! Here's hoping we
can do it again next year. Some photos from the festival are below. Enjoy!

I'd like to thank filmmaker Joe Bagnardi and actor Dan Bailey for helping with the videography on this event.
This marathon event, the first of its kind to be held at the New York State Museum,
took place on Saturday, October 29th, and featured four landmark, classic horror films. The films shown were "Horror of Dracula" (1958), "Carnival of Souls" (1962),
"The Haunting" (1963) and "Night of the Living Dead" (1968). Myself and fellow Upstate New York independent filmmakers Joe Bagnardi and Bruce & Rosa Hallenbeck were on hand to host the event. We also had a Q&A with audience members and showed several of our own independent movie trailers to kick off
the day. I'd like to thank everybody who attended the film festival and also my co-hosts.
And finally a special thank-you goes to Pat Whalen at The New York State Museum
for putting the whole thing together.
