Answer: There is no set definition for this phrase. Independent filmmaking can have many different definitions. By major studio standards, an independent film might be a movie with a budget of "only" several million dollars or so. Outside of Hollywood, it usually means a movie with a budget well under the million-dollar mark. For people like myself it means making movies with a budget hovering close to the zero amount. (You can actually substitute the terms "underground" or "guerilla" filmmaking for these type of low/no-budget productions.)
Digital filmmaking generally means making movies using digital video equipment.
In actuality, the phrase "digital filmmaking" is a contradiction in terms. This is because "filmmaking" (making a movie on film) involves a chemical process, whereas producing a movie on a video format (including digital) is really electronic moviemaking.
For many people like myself, independent digital filmmaking means making low/no-budget movies using inexpensive digital video equipment. In my opinion, the true independent filmmaker (whether using digital or any other format) is someone who has a vision and the persistence to make their vision come to life, no matter how limited their resources may be.

Question: Where are movies from Very Scary Productions produced?
Answer: To date most of my own movies have been produced in and around Upstate New York's Capital Region (around the Albany, NY area). Additionally,
many of the independent filmmakers I work with also produce movies in and around this area.
Question: What are the budgets for your movies?
Answer: As mentioned above, at the present time my movies are still on the low to no-budget scale. However fortunately with the advent of digital video technology it's still possible to produce quality entertainment at this level of filmmaking.
